ANIMALS RESIDENT AT THE CANGO WILDLIFE RANCH.
Hellip; Walk above the most magnificent of the worlds big cats; white lions, African leopards, white snow tigers and of course our prized cheetah.
You can then enter our Snake Park where you are met by a host of venomous creatures including the mighty King Cobra, the largest venomous Snake in the world and the only one in Africa.
Our mission is to save animals such as the cheetah from extinction and to educate people about the vulnerability and importance of wildlife diversity.
Some of our animals have been rescued from the wild or landed on our doorstep by default.

The animals resident at the Cango Wildlife Ranch come from all over the world and are here for a huge variety of reasons. Some of our animals have been rescued from the wild or landed on our doorstep by default. It is heartwarming to see how many concerned animal people you find in everyday living. We get a huge amount of concerned citizens bringing us injured animals picked up next to the road. These little patients are usually nursed back to health and released back into the wild depending on the nature of their injuries. Some of our snakes and crocodiles are only here for a short period of time. Our cheetahs, Pygmy hippos & Radiated Tortoises are part of our breeding and educational program. These endangered animals are being bred in captivity to ensure the survival of the species. Their residency also provides much needed education to the general public visiting the ranch about the plight of not only these particular species but animals all over the world. Our mission is to save animals such as the cheetah from extinction and to educate people about the vulnerability and importance of wildlife diversity. Our facility has been in existence for 30 years and currently comprises of over 90 different species of animals and 100 full-time staff. We provide guided tours which are fundamental in our education programs, giving each species a voice, and enlightening the public on animal and environmental issues. In order to bring these 'messages home' we have enveloped it in a fun and unique setting and proudly see ourselves as one-of-a-kind. Your experience will still be amazing, but this might just influence your underwater photo clarity. In 1977 the Cango Crocodile Farm was established as South Africa’s first crocodile show farm. The farm was, as the name suggests, a place where crocodiles were bred to be sold. In 1986 a dream was realized when Andrew and Glenn Eriksen purchased the Cango Crocodile Farm. Andrew and Glenn wanted to do more for conservation and decided to get actively involved with the plight of the endangered cheetah. Today, while the ranch continues to house a large crocodilian population, it has turned its attention to the plight of endangered species and in line with this, the decision was made to expand and include a number of big cats. With the initial emphasis being on the highly endangered cheetah, the Cango Wildlife Ranch is today home to more than 90 species of animals and reptiles. We believe in conservation and we know that extinction is forever. The work done at the ranch by our dedicated staff takes on a whole new meaning when you realize that the people involved in saving animals and educating the general public, will never see the result of their work in their lifetime. Nevertheless, we will keep on doing our best to ensure that extinction becomes just another word in the dictionary and not a reality. We have seen man do terrible things but we also know that man is capable of great things and it is towards greatness that we at the Cango Wildlife Ranch strive. The activist is not the man who says the river is dirty.
